Interview with Aurora

With 350 hours training in Yin yoga, Ashtanga yoga, Vinyasa flow yoga and a Cert IV in Beauty Therapy, Kahuna massage, Reiki, aromatherapy & relaxation massage, our beautiful Aurora Brown proves there’s nothing she can’t do. Speaking from experience, this woman understands our unique bodies and how they should be working.

Aurora is one of our amazing practitioners at Be Right Here. She’ll be at our Be Right Here retreat this August, flying all the way down from Townsville to the beautiful Hunter Valley. With her unique insight into wellness and well-being, we had a chat about self-care.

What does self-care mean to you?

Self-care is what we do to maintain our emotional, mental and physical well-being. It is necessarily to maintain a healthy life. Self-care is truly tuning into your body and soul and being aware and mindful of what you really need and then honouring that above all else. If we are not honouring our own self-care we are not able to fully give at our maximum potential.

What are the core values of your teaching/healing?

That no one needs anything ‘fixed’, that we need to heal. I facilitate a safe space that you can heal, and through my tools of massage, yoga, sound & intuitive healing I give the space for you allow what needs to arise so you truly can connect and heal yourself, so you can exhale.

How would you define Yin Yoga?

Yin is moving meditation, its bliss. As we hold the poses longer it gives the time the body needs to soften and open up.  There is an element of discomfort but its about cultivating stillness and comfort in your discomfort. It creates awareness and connection, yoga takes us to new places, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually that we never dreamed of reaching.

What experience or skills do you need before attending your Yoga sessions?

No experience needed! Just an open mind, acceptance and love for your body and where it’s at. Yoga is a journey, it’s not about touching your toes or walking on your hands, and to know that we are all SO structurally different, and at different stages.

What are the health and well-being benefits of your massages?

The health and well-being benefits of my massage – it is calming, grounding, centred, reduces muscle tension, stimulates the lymphatic system, it can reduce stress hormones, and it allows the body to release what it no longer needs, to release what your holding onto that no longer serves you. To help connect into body and bring awareness into what the body is trying to tell you.

Why is La Vingna Estate the perfect place for this retreat?

There is so much space, gorgeous open space in such a beautiful part of the world, it will feel like you are in your own country oasis. The energy and space will allow you to completely feel like you can exhale.

What makes the Be Right Here retreat so special?

The passion, skills and experience of Alita, Kate and myself. It is no coincidence that we are holding this retreat and space together for woman. It is a retreat that will empower and lift, it is a retreat that has been created from pure love and soul.

What do you hope retreat goers will take away from this experience?

I hope that the beautiful souls that attend the retreat will leave knowing just how amazing they are, how worthy they are, and with the knowledge and tools to truly connect with themselves and know how self-care is, and know that they must keep nurturing themselves always!
