When to seek counselling
There are a number of reasons why people seek out counselling. Life can be challenging at times. At some point in our lives most of us require some sort of counselling or support to see us through any number of life’s difficulties. That’s okay. It may be that you are experiencing mental health or emotional issues, are stressed or overwhelmed and are looking for ways to manage or you simply just want someone to talk things through with.
Whatever the issue, counselling will help you navigate through the distress or difficulty you are experiencing and will assist you moving towards a state of overall well-being.
Counselling can assist you when you are experiencing difficulties that are impacting on your ability to manage day to day life, for example;
- Persistent experience of low mood or anxiety
- Relationship difficulties or breakdown
- Experiencing family, friend or workplace conflict and/or stress
- Experiencing significant life change and adjustment
- Feeling socially isolated
- Bereavement, loss and grief
- Are diagnosed with, or suspect you have a mental health condition

Child and Adolescent Therapy
A child and adolescent therapist can help children, adolescents, and their families cope with the many family problems and family conflict they may face in the early years.
For children, they may have behavioural issues due to Autism, ADHD, depression, learning disabilities, family problems, and dealing with schools and grades.
Adolescents can really struggle with problems as well. They may be feeling anxious over school, relationships, their future and so much more.
Our practitioners use tools to bring about change in thoughts, feelings and behaviours. They work with parents and enable them with strategies to assist them to parent their children, adolescents, or even a young adult.
In our practice we also have a background in understanding trauma, grief and loss and how this can affect children and adolescents in different ways.
Self-care is simply a routine of things that you do to ensure you maintain a feeling of overall well-being and happiness, even amongst life’s most stressful moments. It’s an ongoing routine whereby you are giving yourself the care, kindness and love that you need, and that, most importantly, it continues particularly in times of emotional or mental distress. It ensures that you can make it through life’s challenges, always living your best life in any given moment.
Be Right Here works with you to create and implement your own individualised self-care plan. It teaches you mindfulness techniques, assists you in learning and practicing kindness and provides support to ensure that your self-care plan becomes routine. A self-care plan is fundamental to taking care of ourselves. It’s essential to building resilience and strength and sustaining positive well-being in stressful times.
Who needs a Self-Care Plan?
People who experience a large about of stress in their lives through their relationships or employment are likely to need a Self-Care Plan. We have also found Self-Care Plan work well for people who experience depression and can act as a support for people alongside their therapy.

Isn’t a Self-Care Plan listening to music and lighting a candle?
We hear this all the time and that is what most people think self-care involves. However in our experience self-care is so much more and the importance of having a plan in place is that when life becomes very difficult, and lets face it, it does, a plan is easy to follow and requires little thought at a time when your mind is overloaded.
